Seascape Knit Trips: Karen Heitkamp and Amy Snell

We met as moms on the first day of kindergarten drop-off when our sons decided to become new best friends. In a fortuitous twist of fate, we soon became fast friends, too. Our friendship grew as we discovered a shared dedication to community service, where our complementary skillsets inevitably led us to joint leadership positions, and a passion for travel that led us to adventures all over the world.

As the children grew up and left their respective nests, we spoke of blending our talents — Amy’s for knitting instruction and Karen’s for event planning— into a professional partnership that would allow us to bring something very special into fruition. In 2024 we decided it was time to embark upon our own unique West Coast-based knitting event and retreat company: Seascape Knit Trips.

We’ve thought long and hard about the kinds of travel and knitting adventures we wanted to create and how we wanted them to feel. We’re dedicating ourselves to bringing you events that are lighthearted and fun, but also offer top-notch instruction in knitting and crafting techniques. We’re bringing together expert instructors and compelling topics in some of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations. Along the way we’ll celebrate your creativity and encourage connection among your fellow travelers. We want to create a community that lasts much longer than a single trip, and memories that never fail to spark joy.
